The Moon, Dreams & Emotions.

To understand ourselves, we must first understand symbolism & nature.

Have you noticed the Moon recently?

The most recent Full Supermoon has been closer to the Earth & pretty hard to ignore!

You may have literally seen the Moon in the sky,

or felt the energy.

What do I mean by that?

Well, the moon has the power to shift tides through its gravitational pull.

Water is symbolic of our emotional landscape because it is fluid,

and just like the ocean, our emotions run deep.

This is why the moon is also symbolic of our subconscious mind,

where our emotions live & hold a tremendous amount of power over how we feel & behave.

Therefore, when the moon reaches fullness,

the magnetic force not only influential over the waters on our planet,

but it can stir up our feelings.

This also explains why you may find yourself dreaming more at this time or at least remembering some of the dreams.

Everyone dreams, but not everybody can recall them.

What is the purpose of dreams?

They are a way of processing our subconscious fears & unresolved emotions.

The subconscious & unconscious layers of our mind tend to work when we are sleeping because the brain drifts into a theta and delta waves.

Our ego can’t handle big jobs like processing emotions, memories and fear,

it wasn't designed for the complexity of that task,

the ego is designed for small jobs (hence it is referred to as the small mind),

so be sure that you don't let it run your life because it can't make you happy.

The ego likes to think that everything happens in linear fashion, but this is just not true.

Let me explain.

You might have a memory from years ago that brings old emotion up,

maybe your ego gets annoyed because you think you ‘should’ be 'over' this by now or you start to worry that you are going backwards.

Well, none of that is true.

Emotions based on memories only pop up again / present themselves when there is a deeper layer of work to be done.

So it's actually a positive thing because your pscyhe is working very diligently for you by inviting you to go to another level of depth & healing (this is true transformation).

It requires the profound honouring of emotions & more letting go (which is one of the least linear processes & potentially one that we find the most difficult).

What are we letting go of?

Effectively beliefs that no longer support us.

Most of us have not been taught how to do this, but it is a gamechanger when you learn.

These memories, old emotions & fears can show up in your dream space because your higher mind is online & working through them while your ego is offline / asleep.

Dreams are symbolic & they carry deep meaning,

some can be translated literally,

some are prophetic (this is because we have more acess to the quantumn field when the ego is asleep & so we can access the past & the future).

Most dreams however require an understanding of symbolism to be translated.

For example, if we dream about being in or driving vehicles, this is usually symbolic of our relationship with control.

When we dream of being in buildings, houses or rooms, this is often reflective of the state of our mind (our mind is our first house, the home of our thoughts).

When we have dreams with other people in, they can hold meaning about that person, but often they serve as a reflection of aspects of your own psyche.

For example, a character in your dream who is a bully, could reflect a part of your psyche/ your own nature that is self-critical.

Depending on the gender of the other characters in your dream, they could reflect significant traits of the inner masculine or feminine that are ready to be integrated.

All animals & birds are rich with symbolism & offer many insigths & clues in your dreams, as do colours that you specifically remember.

The emotions you feel in a dream are key! They can represent the fears & desires your mind is working with.

In Elemental Leadership® the element of Water represents our emotions & two more Archetypes that are the keys to unlocking emotional freedom; the Caregiver & The Healer.

The Caregiver speaks to our relationships, empathy, support & compassion (including self-compassion) & the balance of nurturing ourselves as much as we nurture others.

The Healer is the key to emotional mastery & how we learn to understand & transform our emotions by understanding whether they are rooted in fear or love which takes soul esteem to explore.

I am thankful that there is more talk about Mental Health these days, it is needed.

I would also say that a vast amount of mental health challenges are actually about our emotional health, an area that is not as well understood.
